VIDEOS ARE SILLY

So these guys wanted to make a video for us. It's really weird making a video, and I'm all for never being in the fucking thing. I'd rather have a concept video, like the kind where you never see the band playing. At any rate, we wrote this song, and named it tattoo, way before the stupid shitty Van Halen song came out. That's neither here nor there I suppose. This song's about a relationshit, more than it is about tattoos. Here's the video....it is what it is I guess.

The Difference Engine Tattoo

On a side note, I went skating yesterday for the first time in like a month. I'm turning 36 in a couple of weeks and the weather has been nice one day and cold as fuck the next so I figured I better go get some. The shitty part is my knee has been fucked lately. I have no idea what I did to it. It's just sore, more so when I bend it to ollie. I keep thinking it's going to get better, but it hasn't. I don't know what to think at this point. But I went skating anyway. The weird thing is after I skated for a few minutes my knee stopped hurting. The moral of this story? Skate more probably. Anyone want to donate several hundred bucks to me so I can build a mini-ramp?

WENT TO KANSAS CITY AND ALL I GOT WAS LEG CRAMPS

So, The Difference Engine loaded up the van for a show in Kansas City the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I've been doing this kind of shit since I was 15 years old, but it's still super fun. Getting out of town, no one knows you and you get to act like you're 15 again for a couple of days.

Unfortunately we couldn't get anything at the local rental place but a cargo van, as we don't have a van at this point. So we were kind of crammed in the back of the thing with all our shit for five hours. That doesn't mean we didn't have some fun.

Once we got to town, we went in search of food.....

Then we played a show

With these dudes called Various Blonde, the rocked the fucking house.

We stayed with a friend of a friend who was gracious enough to let us crash on his floor. Thanks again Casey. Turns out Casey's a pretty fucking talented skater, artist, and all around cool motherfucker. And he had this skate graveyard going on at his place.

We eventually crammed back into the van, for a long, hungover ride home. Get out there and get some.

POSTINGS FOR NERDS

Yeah, it's been a while.  Things have been crazy here in twisted knife world. The bands played out several times a week in the last couple of months. Getting CDs, t-shirts, stickers and all the rest of the merch made has been a pain in the ass. I've also had a bunch of other bull shit to deal with. Water pipe break at my house that had me digging a hole, plugging leak, only to have it break again, and again. Third times a charm I'm hoping. Haven't been skating in I don't know how long. Getting old sucks kids. You have to do things you don't want to, or feel like doing pretty much all the time.
To top all that off I've had a killer tooth ache all week and no money to get it fixed. I did learn a pretty good lesson however. Weed totally dulls the pain from said tooth ache, but then I get the munchies and want to chow down on Doritos or whatever and I can't. It's torture I tell you.

FUCK THOSE FUCKERS

I rarely use facebook these days. Why? Because everyone's uber religious, homophobic, right wing, left wing, politically fucking retarded. Seriously, the world is obviously fucked, and the USA ain't what she used to be.
The Economy tanking makes me think about how lucky I really am. I have no big debt, I live on the cheap, I don't fuck with credit cards (they're the fucking devil, useless unless you own a business.) and I don't have a lot of expensive habits. Smoking, but I'm trying to quit OK!?!
Here in the Heartland (Missouri, Misery, the leadbelt, the parkland, the fucking asshole of america.) we've had no goddamn rain, temperatures reaching 100 or more every fucking day, and mother fuckers going crazy. Just to give you an Idea of where I live, the shitty ass clown, fuck faced, inbred bunch of fuck tards known as the K.K.K. had a picnic last weekend. They were giving away free sandwiches. Which in it'self seems nice right? But it's just so fucking underhanded. They say they're not a hate group, but their regulations, stipulations, and what not doesn't allow for anyone not white.
Then I think about how everything is like that. Our Congress is bought and sold by the special interest groups, the military industrial complex, and Wall Street. The sad part is I know this, I know it's all a lie, I know how the asshole cops, lawyers, judges, congressmen and the like perform in their respective job duties. (Just a note, I realize that not every of the aforementioned occupations are fueled by nothing but assholes, there are good cops, lawyers, etc.....It's just that they're so far and few between.) but I just don't give two shits anymore. That's wrong of me, but arguing with someone that even cares what Chick-fiturd thinks about gay marriage is like trying to make a retard not retarded.  IMPOSSIBLE!?!
Having a sense of humor, and not taking the whole ride of life too seriously. Stop caring what the fucking actors, rockstars, preachers, politicians, and for fucks sake a fast food chain say about what life is! They are just part of the problem.
I love how Tim says he lived with Eric Koston and doesn't really know him. I think that's one of the thing, besides his skating, that we all love about Koston. Just a mystery, but at the same time totally likeable. Skateboarders on the whole have the right attitude about all of this. Fuck you, get out of my way, and fuck your agendas. Enjoy life, and the world around you, get out, search, travel, don't take a moment for granted. It's just a ride.

LONG HOT SUMMER

Forrest fires breaking out around us, temperatures above 100 for 10 days straight, the fourth of July came and went and I've been lazy as shit.

I'm old, (35) so it's not like you can blame me for not skating in this fucking weather. I could have a heat stroke, or something. I skated a little one night, when the temps plunged to 92 degrees. I pretty much thought I was going to have a heart attack. Ok, not a heart attack, but it sucked, and I was a fucking sweat bag in like 10 minutes.

So what can you do if you're in this general vicinity and experiencing the hottest weather on record in the last 80 years. Smoke a bunch of herb and go here http://www.wiskate.com/
Seriously, these guys fucking rule.

muzak

Getting up at 4am sucks ass. Don't let anyone ever try to tell you different. I've been doing it now for two weeks, and I'm still not entirely used to it yet. That said, I'm off at 1 in the afternoon, which means I have lots of skate time, and I've been trying to use it, when it isn't raining and shit. It's been nice though lately.

The band played our first show last week, that was fun as fuck. It's all I have for now, here's some pics....

Yes, I know, I never update this thing anymore. It's difficult as I'm lazy, and I've been working this new job as news director. Yeah I'm in charge of the news for a whole radio station. Well 2 radio stations to be precise, so don't judge me. Asshole. It's been a busy crazy time, and I can't complain really. Band has a show this Friday night that I'm excited about, we've been having fun writing songs and I can't wait until we finally have a CD to put out. The down side of all that is I haven't been skating now in 2 weeks. We've had awesome weather, but getting up at 4am and playing music all weekend long has put a damper on that. But that's ok, soon I'll be back to hurting myself on a semi-weekly basis. Until then here are some shitty photos. Now I have to go work on news, and ordering panther urine...or something.

LIFE IN THE FASTLANE

It's been such a kickass winter, and spring, I'm totally thankful for everything that's been going down lately. I'm in a good place with my job, my life, and I've got to get out and skate way more than any other winter I can ever remember.
I am well aware that sounds corny as fuck, but in all seriousness, it's been fucking awesome. I think it's funny as fuck that people don't realize that yes, I'm 35, and yes I still skateboard. Am I hucking myself down 15 stair hand rails? Fuck no, it's not like I'm responsible enough to have health insurance. But I have a house, a car, and pay my bills thank you very fucking much.
But that doesn't mean I won't grind the fuck out of a ledge for an hour straight, or work on kickflipping a stick for an hour. It's all skating. My friend Josh got broke off one day on this flat bar, just slipped out, thought he might of broken his arm. We were at the hospital, and the nurse asked him why he was skating at his age? If he didn't get paid for it and wasn't a professional. That's what people never understand, it's the pure fun and love of it.  I told him he should of asked her why she was just a nurse and not a Doctor?
Skateboarding is no different than some 50 year old playing tennis, well except for the whole bodily harm and danger and adrenaline thing, but that's the point isn't it? Maybe I'm sick, but it feels good to wake up a little sore from eating shit, it feels even better to pull a trick that you've been working on. Yeah it takes a few more days to heal up, and yeah, those 15 stairs turned into 5 stairs, but it's still the most fun thing in the world. I had a friend say skateboarding is the best invention ever, next to the guitar. I agree whole heartily, and most of the time I'm not sure the guitar wins out.

This is me, back the last time I remember being this happy, and with as good an outlook on life. Really I just wish I still had all the flyers on that wall from the shows I'd been to.

And here's a tidbit of us pushing buttons in the studio, my other love in life. Plus I just like how excited Ryan is about dropping the guitars out....

LONG TIME, OLD FRIEND

I still have not yet managed to fix my computer. It blows dick and balls as the only time I get to check out all the dumb skateboarding shit I read online is while I'm at work. And since now I'm some kind of news guy/afternoon guy at the radio station, I actually have work to do. Therefore, work+no computer=never get to update blog. I am however now at work, and Saturday mornings here aren't so busy, so I'm having my breakfast, and typing away.
A fully balanced and healthy breakfast!!

The good side of all this is that when I'm not at work, I've been able to get my lazy ass outside and enjoy this, uhhh, Winter? we've been having.
As much as I make fun of country folk, well, I'm one of em. Yeah, I chopped and split wood, so what? Country Boys can survive....or some such shit.

It's been really windy the last few days, and tornado's hit the state a little earlier this week. I feel bad about the people that lost their homes, and even worse for the people that lost their lives. That said, apparently Branson got hit pretty good. If you've never been to Branson, you should really go. It's like every religious, right wing, good christian tea party, country music listening, fucktards wet dream. It's like heaven on earth for those kinda folks. When I was a kid my parents took us there at least a half dozen times. It was fun as a kid, it used to be a little different. There's Silver dollar city, and the water park, AKA, White Water. We had shit tons of fun there. My parents used to stay at Freddy Fender's hotel while we were there, but his son died in a scooter accident there, and old Freddy packed up his shit and left town. There were tons of shitty little t-shirt shops, I remember one had all these rad DRI t's that I wanted so bad, but my parents wouldn't let me buy one. I think I freaked them out earlier that same summer when I bought the Dead Kennedys "In God We Trust, Inc."
At any rate, I have fond memories of the place as a 12 year old little prick. Now that I'm a full grown 35 year old prick, it looks dumb as fuck. I haven't been there in at least 20 years, but when I was a kid they had Freddy Fender there, a really sketchy wax museum and other assorted things to do if you weren't into country music, guns, and God. Yeah, they had some hillbilly shows and what not, but nothing compared to what they have now.
Now they feature such famous shows as, 24 Karat Country, 3 Redneck tenors, Alabama Revival, Bill Anderson, and then they have these guys. http://www.baldknobbers.com/
They've been there forever, and honestly if you can deal with the funny looks, Christ loving right wing idiots, and don't mind having to deal with retarded traffic it's probably still a good time. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the Hollywood Wax museum and the Ripley's Believe it or not museum didn't get fucked up.

Nothing much

Haven't really had much to say lately. No computer for some time now. Did manage to get a shitty old desktop, which at least for now allows me to look at all the shit I've been missing out on for the last month. On a side note, does anyone, and I mean anyone really understand women? At all? I turned 35 this year, and I was really starting to think I was getting the hang of everything. Apparently not the case. It's like some ancient riddle or rubicks cube or something along those lines. The midwest still sucks, in case you were wondering, which I'm sure you are not. Winter has been mild, but it's finally turned good and cold, which I secretly hope stays that way, at least for a bit. If only so when I go out in the woods this spring I'm not covered in ticks, bugs, and other assorted infestations of itchy, scratchy, biting insects.
Been thinking about using this as the album cover for my bands EP. I think I took this back around 1998 or so, really nice slice of life where I live...

I was really hoping these planes were going to make a pentagram, instead I'm sure they were spraying us with chemicals of some sort that do something evil that all those conspiracy theorists out there would know more about than I do.

Another boring post about skateboarding, Missouri, and deadmaus....

Haven't been able to post on here in a while. I had a death in the computer family which has left me with no way to save photos, video, or do much of anything. Luckily I do have an iphone, which is awesome and all, but it makes it a pain in the ass to post anything on here, so I haven't. We've been fairly lucky thus far with the weather. Normally January is the absolute worst. It's normally cold as hell, icy, snowy, and the windchill tends to dip north of 0 degrees. Well, it's been in the 50's for the first bit of the new year, and we've only had one day of snow, really cold weather. That was until 2 days ago. The Temperature went from 52, to 20, in about 10 hours, snowed, and it's been shit ever since. Apparently it's supposed to get back up in the 40's tomorrow, but everyone knows once you get a decent snowfall, the streets are shit, everything's melting, causing the sidewalks, streets, and parking lots to be covered by salt, dirt, water....which all equals no skating.
Not that I'm complaining, normally by this time we've had at least one ice storm, and I've been stuck inside for nearly a month awaiting warmer weather, and eating everything in sight, getting fatter. Josh and I did manage to get in a little skating the day before the snow hit. We happened upon this poor little guy, we named him deadmaus, but he didn't play anything that either made us want to take exctasy, or dance.
Needless to say, he wasn't having a good day. We were, I recently purchased the Beez video I-III. It's only $7.99 you fuck heads, so if you don't own it, I highly recommend that you go here http://www.beez.wiskate.com/ right now, and buy it. Then do what we did, and go out and work on your step off shuvit everythings.... Josh tried his best to pull this off, but lack of style/speed makes it retarded. Which is quite funny really.
I particularly like the rock stop at the end. At any rate, we got to push around all day, then the next day, it fucking looked like this outside.
Oh well, can't wait to get this out of here, and do some more of this.
Just getting to push around, and dodging dead mice is all I really want most days. That and getting to play some tunes, with my friends. In the middle of mixing the EMDC EP now. Hopefully have some mixes to post up soon. Everything is finally recorded, and we've started the twisting of knobs and whatnots.
Hope everyone's having a decent 2012, and don't worry about those fucking Mayans, what do they know? They've been dead for a long, long fucking time.
